At the heart of the Guardian.Essential™ are annual Equipment Performance Evaluations (EPEs), covering a comprehensive range of modalities, including diagnostic radiography, specimen radiography, intraoral dental systems, bone densitometry, fluoroscopy, mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, CT, MRI, PET, SPECT, and ultrasound. Each EPE is conducted by a board-certified medical physicist and includes detailed assessments of technical performance, radiation dose outputs, safety interlock functionality, and imaging quality benchmarks. The results are compiled into formal compliance reports specifically formatted to meet state inspection standards and accreditation body requirements.
In addition to equipment evaluations, DRPS offers expert review and certification of room shielding designs under the Radiation Protection Program Support (RPPS). This process involves calculating shielding adequacy, conducting on-site post-construction verification surveys, and preparing signed physicist certification letters required for regulatory submissions. Facilities also benefit from radiological area surveys, in which DRPS assesses exposure levels in controlled and public zones, verifies appropriate signage placement, and provides detailed exposure mapping with tailored mitigation recommendations.

Under this program, all participants, whether on monthly or quarterly cycles, and whether using chest badges or ring dosimeters, are charged a simple, flat monthly fee for dosimetry services. This predictable pricing structure simplifies budgeting for facilities while ensuring consistent access to high-quality dose tracking and reporting. In the event of late badge returns or lost dosimeters, additional fees apply as outlined by Landauer's standard fee schedule.
