Since the July 1, 2024 reorganization of SC DHEC, the Radiation Protection Program of the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services registers X-ray machines and licenses radioactive materials. Diagnostic X-ray rules are in S.C. Code Regs. 61-64, which requires annual testing of medical X-ray equipment and review and acceptance of a shielding plan before installation.
