Radiation Safety for EVS / Housekeeping Staff
Short radiation safety training for environmental services and housekeeping staff who clean areas where radioactive material is used. English.
Course Description
Short radiation safety training for environmental services and housekeeping staff who clean areas where radioactive material is used — nuclear medicine, PET, radioactive treatment rooms, research labs, and waste storage. Built on the worker-instruction requirements of 10 CFR 19.12.
The course runs video, post-test, then certificate. The post-test unlocks after the full video has been watched and requires 80% to pass.
General awareness training; it does not replace your facility's procedures, your posted signs and action levels, or site-specific instruction from your Radiation Safety Officer.
Learning Objectives
- Tell the difference between exposure and contamination
- Apply time, distance, and shielding without the physics
- Recognize the radiation symbol and postings, and know when not to enter
- Handle labelled containers and treatment patient rooms correctly
- Respond to a spill — stop, keep people back, and call
- Know your right to report, your exposure records, and how often training repeats
